FAQs

Who would benefit from this course?

Anyone can benefit from learning how emotions, thoughts and feelings impact your health. This group can be especially helpful for those living with chronic or life threatening illnesses (such as cancer, diabetes, depression, anxiety or chronic pain) or experiencing high stress from life changes like divorce, death, menopause or empty-nest syndrome, among others.

What if I already practice some mind-body skills, like imagery or meditation? Would a group still be helpful for me?

Yes! Even if you have worked with Meditation or Imagery or another mind-body skill, a group can still be extremely helpful. Groups offer a supportive atmosphere and an exploration of many mind-body approaches, which often add a deeper dimension to an existing practice, or a desire to incorporate a new skill into that practice. Also, the group is designed not only to teach mind-body skills, but also to help participants develop a deeper level of awareness in everyday experiences and, as a result, an increased ability to cope with the emotional, physical and psychological challenges that face us in our daily lives.

How are the sessions structured?

Each session begins with a brief talk from our faculty and then focuses on a specific mind-body technique such as breathing, meditation ,drawing, dancing, movement, and guided imagery. Our small group size allows you to get instruction targeted to specific issues in your life and share your experience with others.

How have former participants benefited from the workshop?

Former participants have reported a decrease in depression, anxiety, pain and fatigue, and have experienced a heightened sense of well-being, engagement in life and energy.

When and how often does the group meet?

Groups meet once a week, virtually, for 6 weeks with each session lasting 2 hours. Sessions meet on Tuesdays at 6pm EST September 24th - October 29th.
