When most people think of smoothies, they think of all-fruit drinks. But smoothies are a great way to pack in the vegetables and the antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals your liver needs to eliminate harmful substances.
Serves 1-2
Ingredients
1 cup almond, coconut, or rice milk
¾ cup frozen blueberries
1 banana
1 T. ground flax seeds (optional)
1 scoop protein powder
1-2 handfuls of spinach or kale
Directions
Blend all ingredients until desired consistency is reached, adding water to thin if necessary.
Can the blueberries be fresh or do they have to be frozen???
Hi Maria,
They may absolutely be fresh! We add frozen because many people like very cold smoothies. This way they don’t have to add ice. Enjoy!
I’m going to try it. What kind of protein powder do you use? I’ve been making your pineapple kale smoothies with spinach instead of kale and apple instead of cucumber.
Sounds delicious, Sandy! You can use your favorite protein powder. We love Soothe, which is a favorite among our patients.
